Dr. Omprakash G. Kakde, Director IIIT, Nagpur has obtained B.E.(Electrical Engg.) Degree in 1986 from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur. He did his M.Tech (Computer Science & Engg.) in 1988 from IIT, Bombay and Ph.D in 2004 from Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur. He also holds M.A (Public Administration) Degree of Nagpur University.

Dr. O.G. Kakde has worked as Director of VJTI, Mumbai, one of the most reputed and more than 130 years old Autonomous Institution fully funded by Government of Maharashtra from 1st June 2012 to 31st May 2017 (5 Years). He was Head of Electronics & Computer Science Department at VNIT for 3 years and Dean (Research & Consultancy) at VNIT, Nagpur for 3 years. He has more than 29 Years of experience spanning academic, research and administration areas. 

Dr. O.G. Kakde has guided 7 PhDs till completion and 5 scholars are currently working under him. He has Published 13 research papers in International Journals, 17 in International Conferences, and 02 in National Journals. He has also published 6 books which include books on Compiler Design, Theory of Computation, Data Structures & Algorithms in USA and India. He is member of IE, CSI, ACM.

Dr. O.G. Kakde has joined as Director, IIIT Nagpur with effect from 26th June 2018.
